In “What I carry with me” you will work creatively with both personal and collective memories. Step by step, you’ll turn individual and shared experiences into a painting or mixed-media work.

Participation is free, but due to limited capacity we advise you to book your spot in advance. Doors are open at 16.30 and the workshop lasts until 19.00. Location: VOX-POP, binnengasthuisstraat 9. The workshop is in English and in Dutch.

Gabriela Akyea (workshop host)

The workshop is led by Gabriela Akyea, an Amsterdam-based Ghanaian-Dutch self-taught artist, creative freelancer and educator whose work is featured in the exhibition. Working at the intersection of art, education and social impact, she focuses on identity, connection and the themes of life. Through her project Our Treasures she uses art to explore questions that connect us at our core, creating space for different perspectives to exist side by side and for dialogue to unfold naturally.
