How do we foster mutual curiosity without becoming intrusive?
Curiosity can be a valuable way to learn new things. But when directed at marginalised groups, it can easily become intrusive. Consider attending a drag performance: a space where a community comes together to celebrate, and where you enter as an outsider. It can be exciting for the community, but also for the newcomer.
The UvA wants to be a curious university. How can we foster that genuine curiosity from both sides? How can we enter a space with genuine intentions and how can we welcome newcomers into that space? What obstacles do we face? And what can we do to overcome those challenges together?
