The old collection of the Amsterdam Hortus Botanicus forms part of the University of Amsterdam's rich possessions in natural history. The Special Collections at the Allard Pierson contains outstanding items such as the hand-coloured books of Maria Sibylla Merian (1647-1717) and the Moninckx Atlas with 425 water colours of plants in the Amsterdam hortus, drawn between 1687 and 1750. This guided visit gives you the chance to see these marvellous works from up close and learn more about the stories behind them.
NB. Due to limited places registration for this event is mandatory.
