Free creative workshops on Thursdays at VOX-POP *because of exams per exception this time the second last Thursday.
On 20 June, we will be making cyanotypes, better known as blueprints. Cyanotype photography is a camera-less technique that involves laying an object on paper coated with a solution of iron salts and exposing it to UV light to create white and blue images.
For this workshop, Henri Blommers will bring all the necessary materials. For printing, he will collect and bring some plants, but you are free to bring your own flat (!) objects for printing as well, such as feathers, keys, or delicate plants. Please bring a plastic bag to transport your damp prints after the workshop.
Henri Blommers is an Amsterdam-based fine-art photographer who generally works in analog with a variety of cameras and techniques. He creates out-of-this-world dimensions full of bold colors, based on contemporary societal themes like plastic pollution, and digital influences on our lives. Henri is co-creator of Hello Gorgeous Magazine, founded to combat the stigma around HIV. In his projects, Henri materializes his images through a variety of techniques, for example by cooking film in plant material, soaking negatives in salt for weeks, or spraying agricultural chemicals on film.
