Under the intriguing subtitle, a quote by Karl Marx: ‘History repeats itself; first as a tragedy, then as a farce’, we explore how art, culture and politics are characterised by repeating patterns. What do these cycles teach us? Can we break them? Together with renowned speakers and experts, we will delve into these complex questions and examine how these themes are reflected in current events and art history.

Speakers
We are honoured to welcome three prominent academics:
- Prof. Hanneke Grootenboer (UvA)
- Prof. Colin Sterling (UvA)
- Prof. Maria Kyveli Mavrokordopoulou (VU)

The discussion will be moderated by Fien Limburg and Ischa Borger, editors of Simulacrum.

This event offers a unique opportunity to exchange ideas and make the topic come alive - for writers, students, and anyone with an interest in art, culture and politics. Join us and get inspired!
