'Ramadan' is the ninth month of the Islamic calender and is practiced by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting. From dawn till sunset, abled Muslims abstain from eating and drinking (no, not even water) and are encouraged to engage in practices that foster religious and spiritual growth and self-discipline; such as prayer, inner reflection, and alms giving.
'Iftar' is the meal by which the fast is broken at sunset, traditionally with dates and water or milk. Besides its highly spiritual and religious nature, Iftar also has a strong cultural aspect with regards to its delicacies and abundant foods. However, Iftar is more than just a meal: it is a moment of reflection, unity, gratitude and solidarity with the needy.
This year, the Iftar will take place on 18 March in VOX-POP. Specific times will be shared soon.
