How can art be used to enact meaningful change in the city? Students of the BSc Global Arts, Culture and Politics course 'Visual Art & Power' have identified power imbalances they view as relevant and urgent for the city of Amsterdam. This Ideas Fair presents their posters in which they propose public art projects that address and respond to skewed power dynamics in the city. Students demonstrate how Amsterdam can be a site in which art can be used to do something about the global and local issues that its inhabitants care about. An external jury, which will include representatives from the Amsterdam Municipality, will attend and judge the final presentation of students' ideas. Visitors may also cast a vote for their favourite proposal.
12:00 Alderwoman from the Amsterdam municipality opens the judging. Students on site to explain their ideas to the jury, peers, friends, and UvA staff, all of whom will be given voting ballots for the popular vote.
