During this conversation, we will explore three pressing questions:
- The difference between self-presentation in everyday life and in online spaces – and the role of AI in this.
- Reality TV – how authentic are participants under the gaze of the camera?
- Living in the panopticon – how does our behavior change under constant surveillance?
Our guest speakers are:
- Prof. Mark Deuze (Media Studies, UvA), specialized in journalism and well-being in the creative industries.
- Dr. Alice Fleerackers (Journalism & Civic Engagement, UvA), freelance writer and researcher focused on journalism and health communication.
- Dr. Toni Pape (Associate Professor, UvA), Television and Cross-media Studies team & Amsterdam School of Cultural Analysis.
The evening will be interactive: our moderator will engage the speakers in conversation, after which the audience will have plenty of time to ask questions and join the discussion.
