The application for applicants with Dutch prior education is 1 May.

The English taught Bachelor's programme in Computational Social Science is open to all students who meet the requirements specified below.

Previous education

Students will need to have completed their secondary school diploma before the start of the BSc in Computational Social Science. The diploma (to be) obtained should be equivalent to a Dutch VWO-diploma ​with mathematics ​(Wiskunde A or B) and English taken as subjects at upper secondary / university preparatory education level​. These subjects should be included in the final secondary school or university entry examinations. Students with a Dutch HBO-propaedeutic diploma can also apply, but need mathematics A or B at VWO-level.

Mathematics Certificate Courses

If you do not meet the mathematics requirement for the Bachelor’s programme, you are able to fulfill this requirement by completing a Mathematics Certificate Course.

You must take the course before submitting your admissions application. Upload proof of your enrolment and your results from the mathematics certificate course in your application. Without a sufficient mathematic certificate score, your application will be rejected.

For those without the required certification, the following institutes offer a mathematics A or B certificate course which meets this requirement:

Mathemetics A

Only available offline in The Netherlands:

• CCVX Mathematics A - Students must score at least a 6.0.
• State Exam Registration in Dutch (registration deadline 31 December) - Students must score at least a 6.0.

Available online and offline (in the Netherlands):

• James Boswell Bèta Mathematics A Certificate - Students must score at least a 5.5.
• Korteweg de Vries Mathematics A Certificate - Students will only receive a certificate if they passed the Certificate Course.
• OMPT-F Students must score at least 60%, and are permitted only one attempt for this programme. 

Mathematics B

Only the following mathematics B certificate courses are sufficient:

Only available offline in The Netherlands:

• CCVX Mathematics - Students must score at least a 6.0.
• State Exam Registration in Dutch (registration deadline 31 December) - Students must score at least a 6.0.

Please note that we do not accept the mathematics B certificate from Korteweg-de Vries institute or James Boswell Bèta.

Please see the list of approved qualifications for an overview of diplomas that are considered equivalent to the Dutch VWO-diploma. The list is far from exhaustive, will be updated on a regular basis and is meant for general reference only. No rights can be derived from it. All applications will be evaluated on an individual basis by professional diploma evaluators.

If your qualification is not on the list, it does not necessarily mean you cannot be admitted and you are still encouraged to apply.

Before you can apply to the UvA, you will need to submit an enrolment application in Studielink. Studielink is the national online system for students who would like to persue a degree programme at a Dutch university. 

Check your DigiD (before starting in Studielink)

A DigiD (Digital Identification) is an online ID (username and password) that provides access to government administration websites.

• Students who do not live in the Netherlands can use Studielink without a DigiD.
• Students who currently live in the Netherlands will need their DigiD to use Studielink. We strongly recommend you to apply for your DigiD at least three weeks before registering in Studielink.

After submitting your enrolment request in Studielink, you will receive an email with your UvAnetID (username and password). Follow the instructions in the email to activate your UvAnetID immediately, for you will need it to complete your application.

Please note: after submitting your enrolment request in Studielink, it may take up to 48 hours before you receive your UvAnetID, so make sure to register in Studielink at least 1 week before the application deadline.

After submitting your enrolment application in Studielink you will receive an email with your UvAnetID. You can use this to log in to the Enrolment Checklist, which is where you  sign up for for UvA Matching.

A week before the start of the programme, you will need to attend the compulsory Introduction Day. On this day, you will receive all relevant programme information and get to know fellow students and our programme staff. You will receive more detailed information about the programme introduction day in the summer. 

A student ID card is a personal card which serves as proof of identity for examinations. You can also use it for borrowing library books. You can request your student ID card one month before the start of your programme.

All students are required to pay the tuition fee in order to complete their enrolment at the University of Amsterdam.
