OSINT and Community, guest lecture with Giancarlo Fiorella of Bellingcat
For our first event, we have invited Giancarlo Fiorella, Director of Research and Training at Bellingcat, to discuss his work and career path, as well as Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) from a practical and theoretical perspective. Bellingcat is an Amsterdam-based investigative journalism group that specializes in OSINT and disinformation. His talk will segue into a discussion on community-building in the field of open source research and how to support those interested in OSINT in building up their knowledge and experience. The talk and Q&A will last from 17:00-19:00, followed by some light drinks and snacks. The event is free and open to the public, please RSVP via the link below.
Terminally Online is an organization run by new media + digital culture MA students from the University of Amsterdam. We connect students with researchers and practitioners from the local media scene by organizing talks, reading groups, exhibitions, and performances and promoting work by students and alums.
In addition, all are welcome to participate in our reading group—Terminally Online’s IRL Group Chat: OSINT Ediition—in advance of the event. The goal of the reading group is to familiarize students to OSINT as a form of knowledge-making and as methodology, and to generate questions for and engage with Giancarlo’s lecture on a more involved level.
