Microbes are small creatures that we often overlook, but they play an extremely important role in our daily lives. Without realizing it, we are constantly interacting with different types of microbes. For example, did you know that on average we all carry around 1.5 kg of microbes with us?
Our dependence on microbes is enormous; they are essential for our survival. Especially in our intestines they play a crucial role, helping to break down food and even influencing our mental state through the complex brain-gut axis. But their influence is not limited to just that. Microbes also have a role in things like partner selection and the development of diseases. Want to discover all about their significance in fermentation and the future of our food? Then come to this special edition of ArtiShock on Jan. 18.
Artist Tessa Straver will take you into the intriguing world of bread making. Learn about the microbes involved in this process and create a sourdough starter together that you can take home. You will develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of your microbes. Join us on this multi-sensory journey where you will learn to fully embrace your microbes!
