You will discover artisanal techniques and cultural traditions from different worlds: from ancient fermentation recipes that prepare us for future food challenges, to Korean ink painting, making your own paper planner, and unplugging from screens.

15:00 – 17:30 Fermentation Workshop with Axe&Porridge and Julia van der Krieke

Together with artist-chef Axe&Porridge (Veniamin Kazachenko) and postdoctoral researcher Julia van der Krieke, you’ll dive into the world of flavor and migration during this fermentation workshop. Under Veniamin’s guidance, you’ll cook with locally available ingredients and taste homemade pickled vegetables and sauces. At the same time, Julia will talk about the origins of fermentation in the context of Jewish migration history: how Jews from Eastern and Central Europe brought this preservation technique to the Netherlands and how their culinary traditions became part of Amsterdam’s city life.

15:30 PM – 17:30 PM Sumukhwa (Korean Ink Painting) with Kelly Jang
Discover the elegance and calm of traditional Korean painting. Guided by artist and teacher Kelly Jang, you will learn expressive brush techniques, natural materials, and the philosophy behind Sumukhwa (Korean ink painting). This workshop offers more than technique—you’ll be invited to slow down, observe nature, and experience the meditative rhythm of brush and ink. Using traditional materials like rice paper, ink, and oriental brushes, you will learn to capture the essence of bamboo—a symbol of strength and integrity. No experience is needed; whether you’re a beginner or just curious, this session offers a special introduction to Korean visual culture.
16:00 – 19:00 Make Your Own Paper Calendar with Michał Jurys
In this bookbinding workshop, you will create a paper planner. Artist Michał Jurys will show you how to make a hardcover for a book. You’ll explore different types of paper and learn how to bind them into a truly handmade planner. Together, we will make a personal planner perfect for all your writings, drawings, and scribbles—a beautiful alternative to writing on your phone, letting you experience the time and calm of paper again.
19:00 – 21:00 Slow Dopamine Café with Jonne Lucia
The Slow Dopamine Café is all about consciously slowing down and finding calm in a busy world. We start with the film Slow Dopamine by photographer Jonne Lucia, showing how small, valuable moments help us pause. Afterwards, we discuss what slow dopamine means and how to find a balance between quick stimuli and more relaxed moments. Then you get creative with painting, writing, or crafting using watercolor while calm piano music creates a soothing and inspiring atmosphere. The café offers a cozy place to relax, discover your creativity, and connect with others without phone distractions.
